Arrest made in Hillsdale hit-and-run
The victim in a June 4 fatal hit-and-run crash in Southwest Portland has been identified as Miro Nik Brankovich, 51.
Police arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the case.
Steven Edward Killeen was arrested on June 6 and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center for second degree manslaughter, reckless driving, and failure to perform duties of a driver.
According to police, at 11:04 p.m. on June 4, officers responded to a call of a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle near Southwest Barbur Boulevard and Southwest Capitol Hill Road. The vehicle didn't stop and continued to drive away.
Central Precinct officers arrived on scene along with a medical team, and found Brankovich, who was declared dead at the scene.
Investigators believed the suspect vehicle was a newer model gray Dodge Caravan that may have damage on the passenger side. No license plate was identified.
The Portland Police Bureau's Major Crash Team handled the investigation.
The hit-and-run marks the 18th fatal crash in Portland, so far, in 2020.
