Back from the fall show: kayaks, tariffs, wood pellets and more
I just returned from the Do-It-Best fall show in Minneapolis, where we picked up some specials on items we usually carry, now at a reduced price over the next few months.
We had an opportunity to buy some kayaks, which we did. Being right on Highway 30, lots of people drive by and a lime-green kayak might catch your attention. We will see how they sell to determine if we will carry them in stock regularly.
Everybody is talking about tariffs. I've talked about it before in this column, but come January, we will see another 10-20% increase as part of President Trump's strategy to bring the Chinese to the table. Steel fencing and wire roofing are impacted, so keep that in mind if you are planning a project. Consider buying it early and stacking it away. A 20% increase could be an increase of about 25 cents/running foot on metal roofing.
We spent time at the fall show looking at various products and I'm still recuperating from it all. We are considering carrying more farm supplies when preparing for next spring as we start bringing in our poultry and all the items to support it.
Coming up to winter now, don't forget to get your wood pellets because we are still running our special at $209/ton. We carry energy logs, too. Propane is at $1.99/gallon and probably one of the lowest prices around Oregon and we have 1,000 gallons to sell every week.
So come on in today and take advantage of our specials.
