"Brush Your Teeth with Fluoride Toothpaste and Clean Your Teeth for a Healthy Smile" is the 2020 slogan for the National Children's Dental Month presented by the National Dental Association. The month-long health observance encourages teachers, parents, and caregivers to reinforce healthy dental hygiene with children to keep their smiles bright for years to come. At Columbia River Dental, our dedicated dental professionals are excited to help your child maintain positive habits and care for their pearly whites:
- Children should brush their teeth with fluoride toothpaste. According to the CDC, fluoride toothpaste has been a major factor in the decline of tooth decay.
- Start a routine with your child. Even if your child only has a few baby teeth, introduce an infant toothbrush with supervision. Starting a routine with your child will set a foundation of healthy habits. For older children, morning and evening brushing after meals is encouraged, along with flossing.
- Consider sealants- a thin, protective layer adhered to the tooth to help prevent tooth decay. According to the CDC in a 2016 study, "school-age children without sealants have almost three times more cavities than children with sealants."
- Continue to schedule your child's preventative appointments with your dentist. As your child grows his permanent teeth, your dentist can assess his or her development to keep teeth strong and healthy.Your child's oral health is important to us!
Help us celebrate National Children's Dental Month by scheduling your child's next dental appointment today. Established habits can keep your little one's smile beautiful
