COURTESY PHOTO - The Columbia Pacific Food Bank raised more than $4,000 during the annual Empty Bowls fundraiser held Friday, April 6, at McBride Elementary School. During the event, attendees purchase tickets and receive a handmade ceramic bowl and a meal of soup. The event is limited to just 350 people and is made possible by donations from vendors and local businesses. Live music was also provided and students from the St. Helens Middle School helped set up, clean up and work at the event. Artist Pat Brame made the bowls for the event and also sold some of his pottery, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the food bank. The money raised at Empty Bowls will be used to provide more than 12,000 meals at the food bank, according to a press release from CPFB.
