Six cases reported on one night in same neighborhood; no personal belongings taken from cars

The St. Helens Police Department responded to several reports of vehicle windows being shot out over the weekend, and most of the reports originated from the same neighborhood.

SHPD officers responded to six different calls Monday morning, May 7, from victims who reported having a vehicle window shot out on Sunday evening, May 6.

"It looks like someone is driving by, walking by, or riding by — I don't know — shooting a BB gun at car windows," St. Helens Police Chief Terry Moss said.

Five of the six calls came from Summit View and Alpine Lane, Moss reported. One other instance was reported on 21st Street, which Moss noted as a bit of an anomaly.

In each instance, the vehicle window appeared to be shot out by a BB or pellet gun, but no personal belongings were taken from the vehicles, Moss stated.

Moss said SHPD officers were working to identify a suspect in the case. To report a similar instance, contact St. Helens Police at 503-397-3333.
