Green started volunteering with Community Meals in St. Helens, a charitable meal program offered through Columbia Pacific Food Bank. Four years into it, and Green is still going strong.

"She started by bringing people who were lonely," Kathy Bauska, director of Community Meals, noted of Green. "Now for four years, she's moved tables and wiped them down, put out ice water, salt & pepper, and makes everything look nice. She is so faithful."

Green also transports dessert dishes on behalf of her church, which provides free dessert to the Community Meals program on the first Tuesday of each month.

"This job came after I retired from the Post Office," Green told Columbia County Retired Senior Volunteer Program coordinator Monica Cade. "I started meeting people and having fun. I was looking for volunteer work, and started on Tuesdays and have been here ever since."

Green was named volunteer of the month for June by RSVP for her years of service to Community Meals. She was greeted by the My Fair Lady court and presented with flowers.

"Of all the volunteer work I've done, this is the most rewarding," Green added. "It's like a family."

"She's wonderful to work with," fellow Community Meals volunteer Nancy Stutzman says of Green. "She's always cheerful."
