Three injured in Canaan Road crash
A two-vehicle crash on Canaan Road resulted in three people being injured Sunday, Aug. 5.
Columbia River Fire and Rescue crews responded to a motorcycle-versus-car crash around 8:35 p.m. Sunday night near Deer Island.
When emergency crews arrived, they found three people suffering from injuries. One person refused transport, while another was transported by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. A third person was transported by Life Flight for major injuries, according to information from CRFR.
Law enforcement from St. Helens Police Department and the Columbia County Sheriff's Office also responded and were investigating the cause of the crash.
The driver of the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Canaan Road when the driver of the sedan was headed westbound and tried to turn into a driveway, CCSO Lt. Brian Pixley said. The motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit the car, he added.
The driver is being referred to the District Attorney's office for a possible reckless driveing and reckless engdangering charges, Pixley added.
While few details were released about the individuals involved in the crash, residents who learned of it through a CRFR social media post used social media to ensure friends and neighbors were not involved.
