Tip-a-Cop raises thousands for Columbia County Special Olympics
Scappoose police officers raised $4,645 for the Columbia County Special Olympics last Saturday, March 2, with an annual Tip-a-Cop night at Ixtapa Family Mexican Restaurant.
Each year, officers and Scappoose Police Department staff help greet and serve dine-in customers and collect tips and donations from restaurant patrons that get funneled to the athletic program.
The funds raised from each event help buy safety equipment and pay for transportation, uniforms and lodging during competitive events for Columbia County Special Olympics athletes.
This year marked the fifth year of Tip-a-Cop for Scappoose police.
