Otto Petersen and Warren Elementary Schools get new principals for 2019-20 school year

Two Scappoose elementary schools will have new administrators next school year, marking a wave of new leadership in the district.

The Scappoose School District announced the hiring of new administrators at Warren and Otto Petersen elementary schools for the 2019-20 school year last week.

At Warren Elementary School, Laura LaMarsh, who has worked at the school since 2014, will be retiring at the end of the school year. A current interim principal in the district has been hired to fill the role next year.

Jennifer Angelo, who is currently acting as interim principal at Otto Petersen, was hired to be Warren's new leader starting in fall.

Angelo joined Otto Petersen in 2008 as a teacher after working in Los Angeles for five years. She served as vice principal at Otto Petersen for two and half years before she was appointed to a temporary principal role at Otto Petersen in March, when the former principal, Jennifer Stackhouse, resigned.

Angelo received her administrator's license in 2018, according to records from the state's teacher licensing agency, Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission.

Angelo holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and child development and a master's degree from Concordia University, according to a press release from the school district.

At Otto Petersen Elementary School, a new face will be welcomed — Jenneca Crocker.

Crocker currently serves as K-5 elementary school principal at Luckiamute Valley Charter Schools in Monmouth and has experience teaching first and second grade. Crocker also served in the U.S. Army, a press release from the district states.

Crocker earned her bachelor's degree from Northwest Christian College, her master's degree from Grand Canyon University, and has an administrative license from University of Oregon. State records indicate she received her administrator credentials in 2016.

Crocker will now be the fourth administrator to join Otto Petersen since 2017. Former Principal Whitney Hessong served from 2014 to 2017 before she transferred to the district office as director of special programs. In the 2017-18 school year, Matthew Wilding was hired to fill the principal role, but resigned at the end of 2018.

At the start of the 2018-19 school year, Jennifer Stackhouse led the school, before she resigned in February.
