Six candidates running for election to three different seats on the Scappoose School Board attended a candidate forum Tuesday, April 23, at Scappoose Middle School. Marty Rowe, a radio host from KOHI 1600 AM, moderated the forum. Audience members submitted written questions and candidates were given 60 seconds each to provide answers during the hour-and-a-half event. Questions ranged from candidates' experience to where campaign donations originated, and how candidates felt about a proposed resolution to remove a book called "George," about a transgender student, from the Oregon Battle of the Books reading list this year, among others.

The Scappoose Education Association and the Scappoose Federation of Classified Employees are co-hosting a "Coffee with the Candidates" event from 1:30 to 3 p.m., on Sunday, April 28, at Scappoose High School in the cafeteria. All candidates have been invited to attend the event as well.
