Alex McClure recognized for volunteer work in April; dedication appreciated by others

McClure was recognized as a friendly volunteer who assists at the Columbia County Courthouse reception desk, welcoming visitors and directing them where to go, a press release from RSVP stated.

RSVP, the county's Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, recognizes volunteers monthly who assist with various projects and needs in the county.

"The RSVP volunteers are absolutely invaluable to the county, and they really help citizens find their way around to find what they need," Jean Ripa, Columbia County human resources director, stated in the release.

Those who work with McClure spoke highly of her.

"I appreciate her. She's always friendly, and on time,"Jean Carulli, who volunteers with McClure, indicated in the release.

When asked, McClure said she enjoys volunteering and getting to have different conversations with people.

In addition to her work at the courthouse, McClure also helped prepare emergency food bags for teens during the holidays, took part in creating Valentine's Day cards for veterans on the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

"Thank you Alex for caring about your community and helping others," the press release added.
