St. Helens band takes 4th at state
The St. Helens High School wind ensemble earned a fourth-place title at the Oregon Scholastic Activities Association state band championships held Friday, May 10. The band earned 299 points based on scores by three judges of the band's rehearsed music and a score for sight reading. The St. Helens High School band was one of 12 bands in the state to earn a spot at the championships in order to compete. The band earned an overall second-place title for sight reading, and was just two points behind the West Albany High School, which took first in sight reading. West Albany High also earned first place overall.
