Celebrating a decade of Community Meals
Community Meals of St. Helens program celebrated its 10th anniversary of serving free meals on Tuesday, June 25.
For the past 10 years, volunteers with the nonprofit program have served free dinners to community members on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
The program has evolved and grown over the years. It also provides an opportunity for community residents to get to know one another and socialize, in addition to getting a hot meal. The program will be reducing its services to only Tuesday nights for the remainder of the summer, however.
On Tuesday June 25, the First Lutheran Church, where the dinners are served, was decorated with balloons to celebrate. Several prize baskets were raffled off and children were provided small gift bags. Each year, the program hosts a special anniversary party to thank the volunteers and dine with other visitors. Anyone is welcome to attend the Community Meals program.
