Up to 8,000 bikers start riding in Seattle, Washington on Saturday and will make their way to Portland, Oregon by Sunday night. During the trek bikers will make their way through Columbia County, following a route along Highway 30 which makes its way through Rainier, Deer Island, St. Helens and Scappoose.

The St. Helens High School band hosts a pit stop along the route where riders can get food, repair their bikes and prepare for the last stretch of the route. Organizers for STP use registration fees from riders to purchase food and to compensate the band for their work.

Students volunteer at the pit stop over the weekend to hand out food and offer support to the riders. The STP event is one of the St. Helens band program's biggest fundrasiers of the year.
