St. Helens shooting suspect taken into custody
Law enforcement officers have arrested the suspect involved in a shooting in St. Helens that happened earlier this month.
Adam Corey Fleming was taken into custody in Sacramento, California on Monday, July 15, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service, a press release from St. Helens police stated.
SHPD worked with local, state and federal law enforcement to locate Fleming after he was identified as the suspect in of a shooting on Cowlitz Street in St. Helens on July 2 that sent two people to the hospital.
One victim was shot in the arm, while the other was shot multiple times in his lower body and had to be airlifted to a hospital for emergency surgery.
A child was in the resident but was not harmed.
Hours after the shooting, Fleming was seen in Clackamas and law enforcement release Fleming's photo and requested assistance from the public in locating him.
Court records show Fleming was also indicted in Clackamas County in December on felony charges of encouraging child sexual abuse for distributing explicit content involving children. A trial for those charges is set for December.
