Grace Brown, a Scappoose student, holds up a freshly made T-shirt featuring a design she co-created with classmate Raleigh Erickson for a contest by Run for the Arts, an educational nonprofit, earlier this year.
In June, the pair were selected as the first-place winners of the annual design contest and received a cash prize, a tour of Portland-based MEK Design studios in July, and a tour of Oregon Screen Impressions in August as part of their prize winnings. The two businesses help create materials for the Run for the Arts Jog-A-Thon program, which will feature the design created by Brown and Erickson this year.
On Tuesday, Aug. 27, Brown toured the screen-printing facility and saw the final shirts up close. Erickson was unable to attend the tour, however.
