No injuries after single-wide trailer burns in Scappoose
A Saturday night fire seriously damaged a single-wide trailer in Scappoose, but the homeowner escaped from the blaze unharmed, first responders say.
Firefighters with the Scappoose Fire District and Columbia River Fire & Rescue responded to the structure fire in the 32000 block of Branch Road around 11:38 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, according to a news release.
Crews arrived to find an electrical fire that began inside a closet and spread to the ceiling, despite the best attempts of the homeowner, who used a fire extinguisher to supress much of the blaze.
A total of eight firefighters, two engines, one tender, one medic and two support vehicles remained at the scene for more than 90 minutes in order to extinguish remaining hot spots.
Damages to the trailer have been estimated at between $5,000 and $10,000. The exact cause of the burn is not yet known.
Crews say the homeowner did not need emergency relocation assistance.
