Driver hit local teacher walking in crosswalk at Walnut Street on Wednesday morning

PMG PHOTO: ANNA DEL SAVIO - A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in a crosswalk at Highway 30 and Walnut Street on Wednesday morning A 65-year-old Scappoose High School teacher was transported to a hospital after being struck by a car in Scappoose this morning.

Scappoose police responded to the automobile vs. pedestrian crash shortly before 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5.

Carol Herscovitz, a high school Spanish teacher, was walking across Highway 30 in a marked crosswalk at Walnut Street.

Kenneth Sailer, 56, hit Herscovitz while turning left onto Highway 30 eastbound from High School Way.

An ambulance took Herscovitz to a hospital.

Police said the incident was still under investigation Wednesday afternoon.
