The event was initially scheduled for April, but rescheduled due to the pandemic

The St. Helens Kiwanis Day Breakers saw their annual Shred Day knocked down by the COVID-19 pandemic, but it wasn't knocked out.

Originally scheduled for April, the Shred Day has been rescheduled by the Kiwanis for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 1 behind the State Farm Insurance office at 2534 Sykes Road in St. Helens.

The event gives local residents the opportunity to have their personal records, letters, paperwork, business papers, tax forms and more shredded on site.

Those concerned about social distancing can stay in their vehicles and boxes will be removed and placed in bins for shredding. The Kiwanis report that all volunteers at the event will wear facemasks.

A donation of $5 per box is suggested and visitors may request receipts.
