Weekend closures coming to Cornelius Pass Road
Sections of Northwest Cornelius Pass Road will be closed at night on two weekends to accommodate moves of large industrial loads traveling from the Port of Longview to Intel's campus in Hillsboro.
The moving vehicles measure 189 feet long and 22 feet wide, requiring Cornelius Pass to be closed for parts of the June 26-29 and July 10-13 weekends.
Multnomah County maintains the section of Cornelius Pass between Highway 30 and the Washington County line, while Washington County has jurisdiction for the road's southern section.
For both June 26-29 and July 10-13, closures are as follows:
In Multnomah County, Cornelius Pass will be closed at times between Highway 30 and Northwest Germantown Road from 9 p.m. on Fridays until as late as 4 a.m. Mondays. The road will be open during the day. The closed sections will be phased, but will extend from Highway 30 to the Washington County line.
Through traffic can avoid delays by using taking the detour on Highway 30 south to I-405 and south to Highway 26.
The mega-loads will pull off the road periodically to let traffic pass, but drivers should expect delays and use alternate routes.
