Wells Fargo in St. Helens closing
The Wells Fargo bank in St. Helens — located inside the Safeway at the corner of Highway 30 and Gable Road — will close permanently later this year.
The branch will close for good on Wednesday, Oct. 14, though the site has been shut down since March 18 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A spokesperson for the bank confirmed that the location would close and said that the branch had been identified for potential closure prior to the start of the pandemic.
"Since then, we have affirmed our decision not to reopen this branch and encourage our customers to continue to use our other nearby branches," the spokesperson wrote in an email to the Spotlight.
The St. Helens location is the only Wells Fargo in the county. Before the permanent closure, the branch will only reopen to access clients' safety deposit boxes, by appointment.
