Sauvie Island fire burns 90 acres on Saturday
Sauvie Island felt the effects — briefly — of Oregon's fire season on Saturday, July 25.
Multnomah County issued a traffic alert at 5:13 p.m. Saturday reporting that the intersection of Northwest Reeder Road and Northwest Gillihan Road was closed due to a nearby wildland fire.
The intersection of Reeder Road and Gillihan Road reopened later Saturday night after fire crews extinguished the fire that burned around 90 acres.
An outdoor burn ban has been effective on Sauvie Island since July 15. The ban by the Sauvie Island Fire District includes all outdoor burning except barbecues and purpose-built fireplaces.
