The city has $75,000 available for businesses suffering during the coronavirus pandemic.

Scappoose has announced a $75,000 small business grant program to provide funds to local businesses negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Applications for the city-run grant program opened Oct. 1, 2020, and are due by 5 p.m. on Nov. 9, 2020.

Grant funds will be awarded in amounts up to $5,000 and are expected to be distributed in December.

An ad hoc committee composed of members of the Scappoose City Council and the Economic Development Committee will determine grant recipients.

Businesses county-wide have been eligible for Columbia County grant programs using federal CARES Act funding, but this is the first round of CARES grant funding available exclusively to Scappoose businesses.

In the last round of countywide grants, 52 businesses received $210,452. Scappoose was home to more recipients than any other city; 18 of the 52 businesses were in Scappoose.

The application for Scappoose's grant funding is available on the city website.

A new countywide round of funding also opened up this month.
