Cornelius Pass, Rocky Point see downed tree, small landslides
Northwest Cornelius Pass Road was closed in the early morning of Monday, Jan. 4, after a tree fell across the road.
The downed tree was near the 'S curves' on the road, between Highway 30 and Northwest Skyline Boulevard.
The road was reopened by 9:30 a.m. after crews removed the downed tree, which was tangled in power lines, according to a Multnomah County spokesperson.
Northwest Rocky Point Road, a commonly used, unofficial detour route, was the site of multiple small landslides on Monday.
"The slides are contained off the road and are being monitored by our Road crews, but drivers should use caution on this rural steep road today," the county spokesperson, Mike Pullen, advised.
Northwest Newberry Road is the recommended detour route when Cornelius Pass is closed.
