Tuesday, Dec. 29
Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 30 near Church Road in Warren. One motorist entered the highway from Church Road and was struck by another motorist heading east on Highway 30. Both drivers, a 72-year-old St. Helens woman and a 67-year-old Warren woman, were transported to the hospital. The vehicles were towed from the scene.
Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a motorist for multiple driving violations on Highway 30 near E Street in Columbia City. The driver was found to be in possession of marijuana. Following an investigation, a 20-year-old St. Helens man was cited for minor in possession and the marijuana was seized.
Thursday, Dec. 31
Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a motorist following a driving complaint on Highway 30 near milepost 23 in Scappoose. It was reported the vehicle was serving, almost striking two other vehicles and traveling at varying speeds. Following an investigation, a 73-year-old Columbia City man was arrested for driving under the influence on intoxicants and reckless driving.
Saturday, Jan. 2
Troopers responded to a report of a shotgun that was found near the Sauvie Island Wildlife Area's north unit parking lot. Following an investigation, it was determined the shotgun had been forgotten on a bumper when a duck hunter left the parking lot. Contact was made with hunter, ownership verified, and the gun was returned.
Sunday, Jan. 3
Troopers responded to a report of shots fired while an elk herd was on the property of a resident in the 76000 block of Delena Mayger Road in Rainier. Following an investigation, it was determined a hunter on an adjacent property had shot a cow elk without a tag. A 50-year-old Rainier man was cited for unlawful take/possession of an antlerless elk. The elk and a rifle were also seized at the scene.

Friday, Dec. 11
Officers took a report of a community mailbox that was broken into. The unit contained 21 individual mailboxes. The case is under investigation.
Monday, Dec. 14
Officers responded to a non-injury motor vehicle crash on Highway 30 near Scappoose High School. One motorist was cited for driving uninsured.
Tuesday, Dec. 15
Officers recovered a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of Fred Meyer. The owner was contacted and took possession of the vehicle.
Friday, Dec. 18
Officers responded to a driving complaint on Highway 30. It was reported a motorist was passing in the center lane, cutting in and out of traffic. Following an investigation, a 26-year-old St. Helens man was cited for following too closely and reckless driving.
Officers responded to a report of a possible domestic disturbance in the parking lot at Scappoose City Hall. Following an investigation, a 40-year-old Vancouver, Washington, man was cited for harassment and possession of methamphetamine.
Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated driver in the parking lot of Otto Petersen Elementary School. Following an investigation, a 62-year-old St. Helens woman was cited for driving under the influence on intoxicants and possession of a controlled substance.
Officers responded to a theft in progress at Fred Meyer. Following an investigation, a 25-year-old Cathlamet, Washington, woman was arrested on an outstanding St. Helens Municipal Court warrant and for theft II.
Sunday, Dec. 20
Officers took a report of a car prowl in the 33000 block of Southeast Davona Drive. An unlocked vehicle was entered, and a work phone stolen.
Monday, Dec. 21
Officers took reports of a car prowl in the 51000 block of Southeast 4th Street and 33000 block of Northwest Onna Way. Both vehicles were unlocked, and nothing was stolen.
Wednesday, Dec. 23
Officers responded to a non-injury motor vehicle crash on East Columbia Avenue near Highway 30. A semi-truck hit the railroad light and crossing arm at the intersection. The driver was cited for careless driving.
Thursday, Dec. 24
Officers responded to a non-injury two-vehicle crash on Southwest Old Portland Road. A man stated his vehicle began to slide on the frosty roadway causing it to hit a parked vehicle nearby. The motorist was cited for careless driving.
Friday, Dec. 25
Officers were assisted by the St. Helens Police Department and Columbia County Sheriff's Office with a subject that was having a mental health crisis near a business in the 52000 block of Columbia River Highway. The man was safely transported to a hospital in Portland.
Officers responded to a report of a theft in the 33000 block of Crown Zellerbach Road. A storage unit was broken into and a safe stolen. The case is under investigation.
