The state's death toll, due to the novel coronavirus, surpassed 2,500 over the past weekend.

Meanwhile, the Oregon Health Authority reported 540 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 186,877.

The largest cluster of the new cases are in the Portland metro area, as usual, with 137 in Multnomah County and 91 in Clackamas County. However, Washington county reported only a single case on Monday.

Other cases include 74 in Marion; 49 in Deschutes; 56 in Lane; 42 in Linn; 16 in Jackson; 12 each in Benton, Polk and Yamhill; 10 in Douglas; five in Columbia; four in Lincoln; three each in Clatsop, Crook and Josephine; two each in Harney and Tillamook; and one each in Baker, Coos, Hood River, Jefferson, Sherman and Wallowa counties.

The one death reported today was of a 70-year-old woman who tested positive on April 2 and died on May 1 at Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg. She had underlying conditions.

The Health Authority also reported that 17,897 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations were added to the state immunization registry. Oregon now has administered a total of more than 1.64 million first and second doses of Pfizer; more than 1.31 million first and second doses of Moderna; and almost 98,000 single doses of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines. As of Monday, an estimated 1.29 million people have completed a COVID-19 vaccine series, while about 1.86 million have had at least one dose.
