St. Helens is celebrating this week. Scappoose marks homecoming by hosting the Lions for football on Oct. 29.

Noelle Freshner, director of bands at St. Helens High School, has announced homecoming events. With leaves starting to turn a golden color and temperatures getting chilly, it's time for homecoming events at Scappoose and St. Helens high schools.

At St. Helens High, the homecoming assembly is set for Thursday, Oct. 14, during Enrichment. The assembly is being live streamed on YouTube.

The homecoming coronation will be happening at the homecoming dance, which is scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16. The Vegas Night Dance will be held outside at McBride Elementary School, under the covered area. Desserts and portable heaters will be provided.

This is a busy week at St. Helens High. From Oct. 11 to Oct. 15, the school is celebrating Tacky Tourist Day, Celebrity Day, Neon Day, Senior Citizen Day and Class Color Day.

Full plans at Scappoose High School have not been announced as of Wednesday, Oct. 13, but the school is announcing that there will be a homecoming dance after the football game on Oct. 29 against rival St. Helens. The dance will be for Scappoose students only.
