COURTESY PHOTO: JEFF WEISS - The new screen for movies at Heritage Park is 25 feet. The summer series of free movies in Scappoose's Heritage Park has a major upgrade this year: a new 25-foot screen.

The Scappoose Public Library previously used a 14-foot screen to project movies on Friday nights in August.

The new screen was funded in part by a grant from the Columbia River People's Utility District earlier this year.

The first movie will be Napoleon Dynamite on Aug. 5.

The "Movies by Moonlight" series will continue each Friday in August. Events will start at 7 p.m. with performances and games. Movies will start at dusk. Hot dogs and burgers will be available for 50 cents.
