The Back to our Roots Car Show takes place Saturday, Aug. 13, and will be held from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Scappoose High School.

"We reserved all of the parking lots because we don't know how many people are going to show up," event organizer Angela Wayman said. "We're calling it a 'part two.' We did Back to our Roots, 'part one' to this, in February 2021 to help save small business."

The 2021 event was a cruise along the Spirit of Christmas Parade route.

Saturday's event will feature vendors and family-friendly activities, in addition to classic cars on display.

"We will have some traditional old-fashioned games for families to play," Wayman said, noting the event is free of charge, but donations, which would help Wayman organize other events, are welcome.

Wayman hopes to see classic cars dating back to the 1930s.

"We went around to a lot of the local and not-so-local car shows and gave flyers out, hoping to pull a pretty big draw of cars," she said.

Describing the name of the event, Wayman said, "Back to our Roots is basically where we've come from throughout our lives, things that have shaped us into what we are. It could be the passions of our classic cars or of those people who have contributed to our growth."

Wayman remarked, "A lot of these car shows that I've been to, people treat you like family. They'll talk to you about their cars, their upbringing, their family. It's just, overall, welcoming."

Wayman estimates about 100 cars will show up for Saturday's event.

"My goal, of course, was 200 cars, but you never know," she said.

Registration online is allowed up until 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12. Visit waymanllc.com for more information.
