The Scappoose Police Department describes noteworthy calls for service from Aug. 24-Sept. 4, 2022.

Wednesday, Aug. 24

Police performed CPR on an unconscious female who was suffering from an apparent overdose. The Scappoose Fire District arrived on scene and took over the lifesaving attempts. The overdose victim was revived and transported to a Portland-area hospital.

Thursday, Aug. 25

Following a traffic stop, a man was taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant. The warrant was out of Marion County for violating a court stalking order. He was transported to jail and lodged on charges.

Sunday, Aug. 28

Police initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle after witnessing it drive at excessive speeds in the area of Columbia River Highway and Northwest Laurel Street. Following the traffic stop, a man was taken into custody for DUII. He was transported to the Columbia County Jail, where he was booked and released.

Wednesday, Aug. 31

Police were dispatched to the report of a theft in progress at Fred Meyer, 51501 Columbia River Highway. The suspect had pushed a grocery cart full of unpaid items through the parking lot to the back of a nearby building. When law enforcement arrived, they witnessed a woman loading several backpacks up with items from the grocery cart. The backpacks still had security tags attached to them. She admitted to stealing the items and was sorry for doing so. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Columbia County Jail, where she was booked and released.

Thursday, Sept. 1

Police were dispatched to the report of a death in the 32000 block of Southwest Crystal Springs Court. CPR attempts were made but were unsuccessful.

Sunday, Sept. 4

Police assisted multiple outside agencies with the arrest of three juveniles for attempt to elude, possession of a stolen firearm and reckless driving. It was reported that the vehicle was traveling over 100 mph in attempt to flee law enforcement. The suspects later crashed their vehicle into a guardrail near Northwest Cornelius Pass Road. All three juveniles were lodged in the Cowlitz County Juvenile Detention Center.
