Letter: Merchants' Toy N Joy grateful for successful auction
The Merchants' Toy and Joy Auction Committee would like to thank everyone who helped make the 35th annual auction held on Saturday, Dec. 2, a success. With $41,000 raised from ticket sales, cash donations and auction night results, the Toy N Joy and Holiday Hope programs that Columbia River Fire and Rescue volunteer firefighters and the St. Helens Kiwanis jointly coordinate each holiday season will brighten the holidays for many children and families in need in our communities. Columbia Pacific Food Bank received the funds from the evening's paddle raise, too.
We wish to especially thank several of the key contributors to the evening's activities: St. Helens High School Kiwanis Key Club for their assistance during the auction; Columbia River PUD for their sponsorship of the Key Club; and Columbia River Fire and Rescue volunteer firefighters for all the support throughout the evening, as well as setup. And, of course, no local auction would be complete without the auctioneering talents of Mark Kuhn — many thanks to Mark!
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the local businesses, agencies and individuals who donated, as well as all our guests who attended our festive community fundraiser.
Mark your calendars now for next year's auction on Dec. 1, 2018!Luanne KreutzerPresidentMerchants' Toy and Joy Auction Committee
