PMG FILE PHOTO - Broadway Rose Theatre Co. in Tigard announced it would cancel all performances through Aug. 23.Broadway Rose Theatre Co. is canceling its summer shows due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In a press release on Thursday, May 7, the company announced it would cancel all performances through Aug. 23. This includes performances of "Crazy for You, "The Wedding Singer," and all youth and teen productions.

"As we continue to navigate this crisis, we are grateful for the generous support of our patrons that have and will continue to be our lifeline," Broadway Rose stated. "We are resolved to weathering the storm with creativity, passion, faith and integrity. We look forward to reopening our doors as soon as it's safe to do so. We wish you and your families health and comfort during this time, and our hearts are with all those affected by this global emergency."

The decision came after Gov. Kate Brown signed an executive order on May 1 extending Oregon's state of emergency to July 6.

"Although the stay-home order may be lifted sooner, it is clear that physical distancing and limiting the size of groups gathering will remain in place through the summer," said the company.

Brown said earlier Thursday that large events likely won't be able to be held at least through September, and that restrictions may remain in place until a vaccine against the novel coronavirus is developed and deployed.
