The St. Helens native, 31, in his Economy Auto Parts/PSP Powder Coating 2001 Toyota Celica, won his third such main event in a row and his fourth of the season on Saturday, Aug. 5, at River City Speedway.

Wegner started in the back of the nine-car pack, overtook Longview, Wash.'s Jason Scheibel, whose car suffered a mechanical breakdown, for first on the 16th of 40 laps, and led St. Helens' defending division champion Bob Berg and his Green Lion/Cozy Lawn Maintenance 1997 Dodge Neon across the finish line by half the distance of the dirt track.

"The first two laps got crazy," Wegner said. "I just kind of held back, waiting patiently until the field kinda spread out, and I just worked my way to the front."

Scott McMullen, 45, also of St. Helens, won his second Street Stock main in a row in his Fast Lube & Oil/Alliance Automotive Chevy, and Washingtonians Matt Jenner (Modified, Vancouver), Clyde White (Sportsman, Longview), and Josh Rodgers (Dwarf Car, Longview) joined Wegner and McMullen in the winner's circle.

McMullen also went last-to-first in his seven-car field as his son, Justin, 27, followed him for their second one-two punch in as many weekends.

"Winning two weeks in a row is pretty neat," Scott McMullen said. "It was a good race and the car was running real good. It was hot out there, but it was still a pretty good night for racing. The track got a little dusty, but it was still in pretty good condition while we were just trying to deal with the recent heat wave. Justin has a pretty good lead in the standings and he'll sure have a good chance to win another championship this year."

Jenner also enjoyed a one-two Modified finish with his father, Don.

The CCRA, online at, will be back in action with the Scappoose Jackpot Market Fan Appreciation Night Race scheduled for Saturday.
