Scappoose OH DeTroy makes all-conference
A junior from Scappoose High, outside hitter Darci DeTroy, was one of eight players voted to the all-Northwest Oregon Conference first team.
St. Helens High had two players — Karlee Webster and Savannah Moore — picked to the eight-member second team.
Scappoose senior setter Charlotte Feige also was a second-team selection.
DeTroy led the Indians (9-12 overall, 6-8 in the NWOC) in kills and service aces.
The 6-footer "is very talented in all facets of the game," Scappoose coach Mark Sprenger says.
Webster was a 5-9 freshman outside hitter for St. Helens (9-11 overall, 8-6 NOWC). She led the team in kills.
Moore was a 5-7 sophomore middle blocker/hitter for a Lions team that placed fourth in the conference and made it to the Class 5A playoffs, losing at No. 1-ranked and eventual state champion Corvallis in the first round.
Feige led Scappoose in assists. She played four years of varsity.
"She is, in my opinion, the best setter in the league," Sprenger says. "She was a tough server and always gave 110 percent."
The Indians also had two players make the honorable mention list: 5-11 outside hitter Shaylan Smith and 5-8 senior setter Sara Mills.
"Shaylan was a two-year varsity outside hitter, a valuable hitter and great defender and floor captain," Sprenger says. "Sara was very reliable. She played in every set all year. She was a great player, and the program will miss her."
Four Lions made honorable mention as well: 5-4 senior libero Karli Cupp, 5-9 senior setter Marissa Eib, 5-4 senior outside hitter Lydia Rose and 5-9 junior middle blocker/hitter Brynn Austin.
Cupp led St. Helens in passing, while Eib was the leader in assists and serving.
Rose ranked second on the team in passing and serving, and Austin was team captain.
