Answers to all your retainer questions
Do I have to wear retainers after braces? Yes. Everyone does. Otherwise, no matter how good your orthodontist did, your teeth will shift.
How long do I have to keep wearing my retainers? No matter how long ago your braces came off, you cannot ever completely stop wearing retainers. If you stop at any time, you should expect some shifting of your teeth.Which retainer is best for me? There are many options, and your orthodontist can help you determine which is best for you based on your specific correction, age and lifestyle.
Can my wisdom teeth cause my teeth to shift after braces? No. Studies show that your wisdom teeth can't produce enough force to move your other teeth.
What's new with retainers? Digital technology. We offer digital models of your teeth in their final perfect po-sition after the braces are removed. This means no matter where you are in the world in the future, you can simply call us and we can 3D print a model of your teeth, make you a new retainer, and send it to you. You no longer have to come into the office for impressions.
When we remove your braces, we begin the retention phase of your treatment. The retention phase lasts for a lifetime. Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you've put in so far.
