A club official cited concerns over the novel coronavirus, which has forced myriad business closures.

The Sherwood Rotary Club's major annual fundraiser won't be held this year.

The club holds a spring tree sale every year. It was set this year to be held in the parking lot of Target, 21365 S.W. Bales Way in Sherwood — a new location for the event after more than 20 years.

The sale was scheduled to run from April 19 to May 9.

"Due to the coronavirus, Rotary has decided to cancel our tree sale this year," event organizer Karen Strickland told the Gazette on Saturday, March 29.

The spring tree sale is the main fundraising event for Sherwood Rotary. The club uses proceeds to pay for community improvement projects, scholarships for graduating high schoolers, leadership programs and more.
