Love Bites by Carnie opens Saturday in Sherwood
The long-awaited grand opening of Love Bites by Carnie is set for this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 15028 Century Drive in Sherwood.
The business, which will feature a bite-size production bakery/café, will be the flagship store for the company started by singer Carnie Wilson and her business partner, Tiffany Miller of Lake Oswego.
On Wednesday, work crews, including Lucus Walters of Precision Custom Cabinet in Sherwood, were busy putting last-minute touches on the café including adding reclaimed barn wood accents and a long clear hickory table for customers.
The grand opening will include a 2 p.m. acoustic performance by pop trio Wilson Phillips, whose
1990 hit, "Hold On," hit Billboard's No. 1 spot.
Sherwood police say they expect the event to draw several thousand people, quite possibly becoming the largest event the city has ever witnessed, according to Sherwood Police Capt. Mark Daniel.
Police are directing those attending to use a graded dirt portion of Langer Farms Parkway at Century Drive for parking. The majority of Century Drive will be closed for the event.
In addition to Wilson's famed bite-size cheesecakes, Love Bites by Carnie will produce pound cakes, brownies, crumb cakes, cookies (and eventually bread puddings) in a full-production bakery and café comprising 14,000 square feet.
