Police determine Snapchat post about 'possible school shooting' poses no risk
Sherwood Police have determined that a Snapchat post regarding a possible school shooting is not a threat to the public or students.
After receiving numerous calls from the public after the post was made at 5:04 p.m. Monday, officers contacted a 12-year-old special needs youth and his parents, determining there was no risk to the public.
"This threat was widely seen by the public, and we appreciate all of the calls, and concern to keep everyone safe in our community," said Capt. Mark Daniel, a spokesman for the Sherwood Police Department. "The calls from those who saw this post, enabled us to act quickly, and determine if there was cause for alarm."
Police did not release whether a specific school was involved and Daniel said no more information regarding the incident would be released.
