From an IHOP to a family fun center, Sherwood projects move forward
The City of Sherwood is moving forward with a number of developments – from a new breakfast place to a large family fun center.
Planned for Cedar Creek Plaza, a 46,000-square foot complex containing six retail shops along Highway 99W, is an IHOP, a national pancake house chain, which has submitted plans for tenant improvements in the complex. Already up and running at the site are a Planet Fitness and Hops 'n' Drops (billed as a Neighborhood Gathering Place).
Meanwhile, work is proceeding on the Sherwood Fun Center on Langer Farms Parkway in what's known as Parkway Village South. Plans are to build a 92,650-square-foot indoor entertainment and recreation fun center. The five-lot parcel also includes other buildings as well as a 392-square-foot drive through coffee kiosk.
Also well underway is the construction of a Hampton Inn Hotel. Located just off Highway 99W with access from Meinecke Parkway, it not only is the city's first four-story structure but also its first hotel.
Finally, construction of the new Sherwood High School is continuing on Southwest Elwert Road, between Kruger and Haide at a steady clip. The $186 million school is expected to open in the fall of 2020. The last high school was built about 50 years ago.
