New principal chosen for Oregon City High School
Sherwood High School Associate Principal Carey Wilhelm will be the new principal at Oregon City High School. In the upcoming school year, she will replace Tom Lovell, who is retiring after six years in the role.
"Carey was chosen after completing a rigorous selection process that included several interviews with multiple stakeholders, a visit to OCHS and a site visit to Sherwood High by a district team," said Superintendent Larry Didway. "She is recognized by students, staff and families for her sustained efforts to build relationships and promote a welcoming community."
Prior to getting her job in Sherwood in 2013, Wilhelm served for nine years teaching math, while coaching basketball and track at Woodburn High School.
"Oregon City High School has a strong tradition of success and I look forward to serving and partnering with such a great group of people," Wilhelm said.
Wilhelm holds a bachelor's degree in history and a master's in teaching from Willamette University. She completed her administrative license at George Fox College in 2011. She has experience with academic intervention, staff development and student discipline.
