Deputies allege that Manuel Naim Lujan-Rivera, 21, of St. Paul, fled the scene of a rollover accident involving a father and three children

COURTESY WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT - Manuel Naim Lujan-RiveraWashington County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a St. Paul man in connection with a hit and run rollover crash that injured a father and three children Saturday near Sherwood.

Manuel Naim Lujan-Rivera, 21, of St. Paul, was arrested Monday. Thanks to information provided by witnesses, deputies were able to track down the vehicle that drove Lujan-Rivera from the crash scene to a farm in St. Paul, according to a sheriff's spokesman. 

Deputies were also able to determine Lujan-Rivera was driving the truck at the time of the crash.

On Saturday, Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a hit and run crash on Highway 99 near Southwest Chapman Road just south of Sherwood. They arrived to find a 2003 Mazda 3 on its side with a man and three children still inside. About two miles down the road, deputies found a 1993 Ford Ranger in the ditch with no one around.

Witnesses said the driver and his passenger were almost immediately picked up by another vehicle which fled the scene.

Lujan-Rivera was lodged in the Washington County Jail on the following charges: Assault in the third degree, assault in the fourth degree (three counts), failure to perform the duties of a driver – felony and driving while suspended, a misdemeanor

Lujan-Rivera is being held on $10,000 bail.
