Rotary's Peace Committee is sponsoring the event, which will also be marked by hundreds of Rotary clubs and peace organizations around the United States and the globe who are dedicated to promoting diversity, tolerance and conflict resolution as the path towards world peace.

Sherwood Rotary's Peace Day events begin at 10 a.m. outside the Sherwood Center for the Arts, with an information table and peace craft project, a display of nature mandalas, and the start of a Peace Walk to seven Peace Poles that have been established in the downtown area.

The first stop will be the official dedication of a new Peace Pole at Allstate Insurance, 2231 S.W. Pine St.

Community members are encouraged to join the Peace Walk, which will be led by members of Rotary's Peace Committee and local Scouts.

After the Peace Walk, there will be a concert by Jenny Sizzler from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a performance at the arts center by the Sherwood Dance Academy's Shopstoppers from 12:15 to 1 p.m.

The Day of Peace will conclude with a flag ceremony at the center from 1:15 to 2 p.m., featuring banners from 129 countries to represent Rotary's goal of achieving world peace and understanding among nations.
