Sherwood receives budget award for 18th consecutive year
The City of Sherwood has been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the current year's budget.
The award represents a significant achievement for the city since it reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting, according to Sherwood city officials. In order to receive the award, the city had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity's budget serves as 1) a policy document, 2) a financial plan, 3) an operations guide, and 4) a communications device.
Budget documents must be rated "proficient" in all four categories, and the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
There are over 1,600 participants in the Budget Awards Program and this is the 18th consecutive year that the City of Sherwood has been recognized by GFOA.The Government Finance Officers Association is a major professional association servicing the needs of more than 20,500 appointed and elected local, state and provincial-level government officials and other finance partners.
