Sherwood spring tree sale to be held outside Target
Editor's note: This event has been canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak. The original story follows below.
After more than 20 years, the annual tree sale organized by the Sherwood Rotary Club has a new home.
This year's tree sale will be in the parking lot of Target, 21365 S.W. Bales Way, just off Tualatin-Sherwood Road.
From April 19 to May 9, some 5,000 bare-root trees and shrubs in more than 150 varieties — including dwarf fruit trees, flowering ornamentals, and a full range of shade trees — will be available at the tree sale.
A full inventory will be posted online before the sale opens on April 19.
"The trees are of the highest quality, donated by local tree nurseries, and are sold at (a) very reasonable price," the Sherwood Rotary Club added in a statement announcing the new location.
Prices are $13 per tree, with a discounted price of $10 apiece if a customer is buying at least three trees.
For the Sherwood Rotary Club, the tree sale is the main fundraising event for the year. Proceeds from the sale go toward high school scholarships, local nonprofit groups, community improvement projects, youth leadership programs and more.
Club members will be volunteering every afternoon, and all day on weekends, at the tree sale. Community members are invited to come out and meet local Rotarians, browse the selection of trees and pick out their favorites.
