Sherwood center features 'Oregon, My Oregon' exhibit
The Sherwood Center for the Arts newest gallery exhibit includes the Oregon-inspired landscapes, flora and scenery of local visual artist D.K. Boljat. "Oregon, My Oregon," is currently on display, and can be viewed in-person Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
An opening reception featuring Boljat is planned for Thursday, April 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. Check the Sherwood Center for the Arts website for the latest updates and distancing protocols at SherwoodCenterfortheArts.org.
Born in Portland, Boljat is passionate about painting as she is about the state she lives in, which inspired this exhibit. She has also accomplished her life-long goal of traveling all over Oregon painting the beauty and tranquility of the most popular sites, culminating in this show, according to a center news release.
Boljat paints in acrylics, oils and a combination of the two, using a technique she has developed. She seeks to capture the feelings of peace and relaxation she experiences when she is in nature.
When painting, she highlights the beauty of each landscape and is not finished with the piece until she feels the same awe and peace she felt while on location.
Those wishing to purchase a painting from this show should contact a Center for the Arts staff member. To reach out to the artist or to see more of her work, visit dkboljat.com.
