Three applicants — including Sherwood's interim chief — have been named as finalists for the next police chief in Sherwood.

The finalists are Capt. Ty Hanlon, Sherwood's interim police chief; Stacy Jepson, Eugene Police Department deputy chief; and D.F. Pace, an inspector with the Philadelphia Police Department.

All three are vying to replace Chief Jeff Groth, who retired Dec. 31, 2021, after 14 years heading the department.

Hanlon, who has been with the Sherwood Police Department since 2009, also serves as the department's public information officer. He holds a master's of business administration degree from Corban University in Salem and is co-owner of PDX Wraps, a professional vehicle vinyl wrap business in Sherwood.

Jepson has served as deputy chief overseeing the Eugene Police Department's operations since 2019. She previously worked for the Hillsboro Police Department beginning in 2002 and left the department as a police commander in 2019.

D.F. Pace is an inspector — a position equivalent to a deputy chief in other departments — for the command inspections bureau of the Philadelphia Police Department, where he has served for more than 20 years. He also holds a law degree from Temple University.

Sherwood City Manager Keith Campbell said he will review materials from panels that recently interviewed all three candidates and will likely make a decision on who to hire after the Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend.
