COURTESTY PHOTO: SHERWOOD ROBIN HOOD FESTIVAL - Maid Marian will be crowned in the Sherwood City Hall Community Room on May 7.The Robin Hood Festival's annual Maid Marian coronation will take place on Saturday, May 7, at 2 p.m., at the Sherwood City Hall Community Room, 22560 S.W. Pine St.

The community is invited to enjoy the pageantry as a member of the senior court is crowned the 2022 Maid Marian. The Sherwood Renaissance Singers will entertain and light refreshments will be served. The court will be introduced and recognized at the Sherwood City Council meeting on Tuesday, June 21, at 7 p.m.

The Maid Marian Court represents Sherwood throughout the year, taking part at events in Sherwood and surrounding communities.

The Maid Marian Court began in the early 1950s, even before the first official festival was held.

Also, those who would like to honor residents who have done something special in the Sherwood community, should submit knighting nominations to the Sherwood Robin Hood Festival by May 1.

At the same time, graduating seniors of Sherwood who are planning to attend a vocational school or college, are encouraged to apply for the $500 James and Marie Ferry Memorial Scholarship. The deadline is May 2.

Applications are available on the website or at the Sherwood High School College and Career Center and at the Sherwood Public Library.
