Cat Adoption Team to receive $25K grant for work with cats
A Sherwood nonprofit is the cat's meow.
That's the message from national nonprofit Petco Love, which is giving Cat Adoption Team a $25,000 grant to support its work on behalf of animals in the Portland metro area.
The grant is set to be formally presented at the Tualatin Petco, 8775 S.W. Tualatin-Sherwood Road, at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14.
Petco Love, formerly the Petco Foundation, is a nonprofit affiliated with the Petco line of animal supply stores.
"Our investment in Cat Adoption Team is part of more than $15 million in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized," Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love, said in a news release announcing the award. "Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us."
Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested $330 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts.
"One of the best ways to help cats in need is by keeping them with their families whenever we can," said Karen Green, CAT's executive director. "This investment from Petco Love will help keep cats in their homes and, when that's not possible, give them a safe place to land until they find a new family."
Petco Love helps find loving homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations — like CAT — across North America, with 6.5 million pets adopted and counting.
CAT, a local nonprofit organization that offers adoption, foster, low-cost spay/neuter, and other programs and services to support cats and people, has helped more than 57,000 cats and kittens find homes since 1998.
