PMG FILE PHOTO - Riders enjoy the Freak Out ride at the Washington County Fair in 2019.The Washington County Fair starts this week and runs through the end of July.

The event kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday, July 22, at the Westside Commons in Hillsboro.

As usual, the fair will feature carnival rides, vendor booths and live performances.

This year's headliner is country singer-songwriter Mark Wills, who will take the main stage at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 28. Other musical guests include The OutLaw Mariachi band, the Gabriel Cox Band and The Rock Bottom Boys.

There will also be non-musical showcases, including Chris Mabrey, who brings his "Master of Comedy Hypnosis" show to Oregon, and live magic from Adam the Great. Other live performances and demonstrations, including a dance showcase and science expo, are also planned.

As always there will also be livestock demonstrations from local 4-H clubs, as well as other animal and horticultural booths where families can experience a petting zoo or learn more about agriculture. There will also be a recurring dog show for those who want to catch some competitive canines.

Admission to the fair is free, though attendees should note that there is no re-entry after certain times of day. That time is variable, based on when events start for the day, so check the schedule for more details.
