The Sherwood Chamber of Commerce announces new members to its board of directors, all eager to get going.

As the recent spring-like weather offers a renewal of energy, the new year brings new volunteers and new ideas to the leadership of the Sherwood Chamber of Commerce. We are excited to continue the fight against the negative impact of COVID-19 and to support local businesses with the 2021 Sherwood Chamber Board of Directors. They include Brian Fairbanks , Allstate Insurance (President); Bill Sikkens, We are Technology (President Elect); Marc Farrar, Metropolitan Land Group (Treasurer); Cindy Francois, Sherwood Dental Care (Secretary); Matt Weissbach, Evolve Physical Therapy; Kristin Leichner, Pride Disposal; Ben Aanderud, New Smiles; Scott Johnson, Oregon Hearing Solutions; Eryn Ross, 503 Uncorked; Jennifer Heasley, Key Bank; Nina Carlson, Northwest Natural; Renee Brouse, Tigard Good Neighbor Center, and Julia Hajduk, city of Sherwood (Ex-Officio).

After a tough year that forced a lot of changes to how business is conducted, the new board is eager to serve and continue to find ways to connect leaders, be a catalyst for business growth, and be champions of the community.

We are also pleased to have Megan Thornton and Jill Richard of Northwest Benefit Strategies regrouping the chamber ambassadors to serve and support our membership.

The chamber especially appreciates the service of those who most recently served on the board. They include: David Buswell, Country Financial; Rebecca Fairbanks, Allstate Insurance; Dan Kutzkey, Maxwell Financial Group; Shelly Rath, Premiere Property Group; Peggy Walker, 99West Trailers and Linda Henderson, Sherwood Foundation for the Arts.

Their willingness to volunteer time to the community while juggling work and family is inspiring, especially when their efforts often went unnoticed.

As we pass the one-year mark of the pandemic and consider the challenges many have faced, we are reminded of what American author Zig Ziglar once said, "Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations."

The pandemic has taken us on a journey nobody wanted but that will make us a stronger and more resilient community. We look forward to working with the new board and ambassadors to reach a beautiful destination for Sherwood.
